UWAZURUIKE TO HOLD MEGA RALLY IN SUPPORT OF ANAMBRA ELECTION.
The Biafra Independence Movement (BIM), has said it will hold a mega rally on September-13 in support of November - 18 governorship election in Anambra State.
This is also as the groups maintain that anybody or group calling for election boycott is totally on his own and pursing a selfish and sinister agenda.
BIM leader, Ralph Uwazuruike will deliver keynote address while other dignitaries invited from within and outside the country will present goodwill messages.
Chief Okechukwu Nwaogu and Chief Cannice Anujuru, both leaders of BIM announced this during a media briefing on Saturday in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
They said the rally will take place at Onitsha the commercial nerve centre of Anambra State on the said date. Nwaogu specifically explained that Onitsha was selected for the rally to clear the erroneous news that Pro- Biafra groups were opposed to the November18 governorship election in Anambra.
“The leader of BIM, Ralph Uwazuruike will personally attend the rally and declare the position of BIM on the governorship election in Anambra.
“We are not opposed to the governorship election holding in Aanmbra State and have through our channel of communication told our members and supporters to effectively participate in the electoral process.
“Holding election in Anambra at this time has little or nothing to do with our agitation as Pro-Biafra agitators and so any group saying election should not hold is only pushing for violence which runs contrary to the ideals of BIM’’, Nwaogu said.
He added that members of the Uwazuruike-led groups would attend the rally from the five states of the South- East and two South-South states of Delta and Rivers. Anujuru described the rally as a double barrel event noting that members would equally use the day to mark the 18th anniversary of the formation of MASSOB.
He said that dignitaries invited from within and outside Nigeria will speak to participants on topics relating to non-violence, socio-economic and political challenges facing the Biafran people.
Anujuru disclosed that the event will be transmitted live on the recently established voice of Biafra media outfit in Germany.
He called on supporters of the groups to shun all violent conducts and urged those living in Anambra to endeavour to effectively participate in the forthcoming Nov.18 election in the state.
